Which taxi apps work in Mallorca?
Four things actually work: Mallorcab for the whole island, TaxiClick and Ntaxi in Palma, and a WhatsApp number. There is no single dominant ride-hailing app here, and that is not an accident: taxi licences are municipal, each town runs its own fleet, and the apps mirror that map. Uber exists but stays limited to Palma and the south-west (we measured exactly how limited in our Uber in Mallorca data study), and Bolt and Cabify simply do not operate on the island.
Here is the map in one table:
| App or channel | Where it works | Book in advance | Worth knowing |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mallorcab | Island-wide, including smaller municipalities | Yes, up to 90 days, airport included | Price shown before you confirm the booking |
| TaxiClick | Palma (Radio-Taxi Ciutat) | Yes, instant or pre-booked | Shows the assigned taxi approaching on the map |
| Ntaxi | Palma | Yes | Fare estimate before you book |
| WhatsApp +34 971 401 010 | Palma and Llucmajor (Radio Taxi Palma) | Yes, guided chat asks where and when | Running since 3 May 2024 |
| Phone: 971 201 212 / 971 401 414 | Palma radio taxis | Yes | The numbers Reddit locals keep sharing |
| 1Taxi | Calvià area | Yes | Community-recommended for Palmanova, Magaluf, Santa Ponsa |
| Uber | Palma and the south-west, limited fleet | Yes (Uber Reserve) | Usually pricier than the meter; few cars at night |
| Bolt, Cabify, FreeNow | Nowhere on the island | No | Mainland Spain only, as of August 2026 |
| Pre-booked private transfer our service | Island-wide, door to door | Yes, price fixed at booking, flight tracked | Driver waits inside the terminal; from 68€ to Palma for the whole car |
Why is there no “one app for everything” here?
Because the licence follows the municipality, not the island. A taxi may only pick up passengers in the town that issued its licence: a Palma cab can take you to Cala d’Or, but it cannot legally come back to collect you there. Every municipality therefore keeps its own companies, phone numbers and dispatch, and no app has signed them all up. The practical consequence for a visitor is simple: the app that worked from your Palma hotel may show nothing at all outside the capital, and the fastest way to a cab in a small town is still the reception desk of the nearest hotel. We have worked inside that licence map since 2017, and it is the thing visitors are most surprised by: who may collect you is decided by the town on the licence, not by the app on your phone.
What do travellers actually recommend?
Mallorcab, by a clear margin. In the 1,293 Reddit texts we analysed for the Uber study, Mallorcab collects 6 traveller recommendations, more than any other app, with the Palma radio-taxi phone numbers close behind on 5, and TaxiClick and Ntaxi on 2 each. The praise is specific: one traveller booked a 4:45 a.m. airport pickup from the far side of the island and the driver arrived on time. The caveats are specific too, and worth passing on: one user could not sign up with a US bank card, and another reported paying cash. Treat both as single reports rather than rules, but have a plan B if your card is not European.
The same corpus shows what happens without any app: the most repeated advice on the island is still “ask your hotel to call a taxi”, and at the airport no app is needed at all, because the rank is staffed whenever flights land. Our drivers watch the other half of that scene on every August changeover Saturday: a long queue at the rank, and half of it still refreshing an app.
What will the ride cost, whichever way you order it?
The meter is the same however the taxi reaches you. Every taxi in Palma and more than twenty municipalities runs on one published reference tariff: 2.50€ flag drop, 1.20€ per kilometre and a 4.65€ airport supplement by day, a little more at night and on weekends, plus 1.15€ if you ordered by phone or app. We break the whole thing down, supplements and worked examples included, in our Mallorca taxi prices guide, and the airport-specific numbers resort by resort are in the Palma airport taxi fares table.
When is an app not enough?
The three cases every Reddit thread circles back to: dawn pickups outside Palma, groups of five or more, and the north and east of the island. Small-town fleets are small, standard taxis seat four, and on-demand anything gets thin after midnight. Eight seasons on these routes have added a fourth case no app solves: two child seats and a boot full of luggage in the same car. For those rides the working answer is to fix the car and the price before you need them. Our pre-booked transfers with flight tracking run from 07:00 to 22:00, from 68€ to Palma and from 153€ to Alcúdia for the whole vehicle; for a genuine small-hours pickup, pre-book a taxi through Mallorcab or your hotel the night before. Still weighing the options? The taxi vs Uber vs transfer comparison settles it scenario by scenario.
What booking with us fixes before you fly
- The price is locked at booking: no meter, no surge, traffic is our problem
- Your driver tracks the flight and waits inside the terminal, delay or not
- One vehicle for up to 8 passengers, child and baby seats at no extra cost
- Nothing charged today, and cancellation is free up to 24 hours before pickup
No app roulette: your driver, booked before you fly
Enter your hotel and flight number and you see your route's price in seconds, from 68€ to Palma for the whole car. Pickups run from 07:00 to 22:00, nothing is charged when you book, and cancellation is free up to 24 hours before pickup.
How we checked this
The app facts come from the operators themselves (TaxiClick and Radio-Taxi Ciutat, Ntaxi, Mallorcab) and from local press for the WhatsApp line. The recommendation counts come from the Reddit corpus we built for the Uber in Mallorca study: 161 Mallorca threads and 1,293 texts, scraped on 19 August 2026. Individual traveller reports (the US-card signup failure, the cash payment) are quoted as single experiences, not verified rules. If an app changes coverage or a number stops answering, the operators’ own pages linked below are the source of truth.
Frequently asked questions
What is the best taxi app in Mallorca?
It depends on where you stand. Mallorcab is the one that works across the island, including smaller municipalities, and takes airport bookings up to 90 days ahead with the price shown before you confirm. In Palma itself, TaxiClick (the app of Radio-Taxi Ciutat) and Ntaxi both order licensed city taxis, and Ntaxi shows a fare estimate before you book. In our Reddit corpus, Mallorcab collects the most traveller recommendations.
Can I order a taxi in Palma by WhatsApp?
Yes. Since 3 May 2024 Radio Taxi Palma runs a WhatsApp line on +34 971 401 010: save the number, send a message and an automatic assistant asks where and when you need the taxi. It covers the unified Palma and Llucmajor dispatch and complements the TaxiClick app rather than replacing it.
Is there Uber, Bolt or Cabify in Mallorca?
Uber exists but only around Palma and the south-west, with few cars and prices usually above the taxi meter; we coded 93 Reddit statements about it in our Uber in Mallorca study. Bolt and Cabify do not operate on the island at all as of August 2026, and FreeNow works on the Spanish mainland but not here.
Why is there no single taxi app for the whole island?
Because taxi licences are municipal: a taxi may only pick up passengers in the municipality that issued its licence, so every town has its own companies and its own dispatch. An island-wide app would need every local fleet on board. That is the gap Mallorcab tries to fill, and why the classic advice "ask your hotel to call one" still works better than any download in small towns.
Do Mallorca taxi apps show the price in advance?
Partly. Ntaxi shows a fare estimate before you book and Mallorcab shows the price of a pre-booked ride before you confirm it. A street or rank taxi always runs on the official meter instead, which is not a mystery either: the whole tariff is published, and we break it down in our Mallorca taxi prices guide.
How do I get a taxi in Mallorca at 4 in the morning?
At the airport, walk to the rank: it is staffed whenever flights land. Anywhere else, pre-book the night before through Mallorcab or your hotel reception (our own transfers run from 07:00 to 22:00, so for genuine small-hours pickups the taxi is the honest answer, and after eight seasons of airport work we would rather say that than sell you something that does not fit). Reddit threads about 3 and 4 a.m. pickups repeat the same lesson: what fails at that hour is not the taxi, it is trying to get one on demand.

Summer no longer fits in summer
For decades, the island's season ran from April to September. Not any more. Official data draws a Mallorca that wakes up in March and doesn't switch off until November: the shoulder months are growing up to six times faster than July and August, rural tourism has multiplied its spring and autumn guests tenfold, and every visitor now spends a record €197 a day.

What does a taxi cost in Mallorca?
Since May 2025 nearly every taxi on Mallorca runs on the same published tariff, which means any fare on the island can be estimated with primary-school arithmetic. This guide gives you the whole price list: flag drop, price per kilometre, the night and weekend rate, every supplement that exists (and the ones that do not), plus a ready-made table so you know what 10, 20 or 60 kilometres should cost before you get in.
