Summer no longer fits in summer
For decades, the island's season ran from April to September. Not any more. Official data draws a Mallorca that wakes up in March and doesn't switch off until November: the shoulder months are growing up to six times faster than July and August, rural tourism has multiplied its spring and autumn guests tenfold, and every visitor now spends a record €197 a day.

Which taxi apps actually work in Mallorca?
Land in Mallorca expecting one big ride-hailing app and you will spend your first evening confused. The island runs on municipal taxi licences, so the apps are local too: one for the whole island, two for Palma, a WhatsApp number and a lot of phone calls. We sorted them out, and checked which ones the 1,293 Reddit texts from our Uber study actually recommend.

What does a taxi cost in Mallorca?
Since May 2025 nearly every taxi on Mallorca runs on the same published tariff, which means any fare on the island can be estimated with primary-school arithmetic. This guide gives you the whole price list: flag drop, price per kilometre, the night and weekend rate, every supplement that exists (and the ones that do not), plus a ready-made table so you know what 10, 20 or 60 kilometres should cost before you get in.

Taxi, Uber or private transfer: which should you take in Mallorca?
We have published the tariff tables, the app guide and a 1,293-text Reddit study on this site, all of them scrupulously neutral. This is the page where we put the three options side by side and tell you which one to take, scenario by scenario, with the same numbers. Short version: the taxi wins short daytime hops, Uber almost never wins on price, and the moment your arrival involves a late-evening landing, six people or the far side of the island, fixing the car and the price in advance is what actually removes the risk.

Is there Uber in Mallorca? Yes, with an asterisk
Type the question into Reddit and you get seven years of contradictory answers, so we read all of them. We scraped 480 threads, kept the 161 that are really about Mallorca, and hand-coded every one of the 93 statements about Uber inside: whether it worked, where it worked and what it cost. The short version: Uber exists here since June 2023, and four out of five answers since then still come with a 'but'.

How far is your resort from Palma airport?
Every summer the same question lands in our inbox in forty different shapes: how far is Sa Coma, how far is Santa Ponsa, how far is Sóller. So we put all of it in one place. Here is the distance from Palma airport (PMI) to every destination we drive, with the transfer time, the motorway your car will use and what the ride costs, grouped by the six zones the island actually splits into.

Buses from Palma Airport: which lines exist, and where they do not go
The bus is the cheapest way out of Palma airport, and for some resorts it is genuinely good. For others it does not exist at all, whatever the forums say. Here is every line that leaves the terminal in 2026, what it costs, how often it runs and how long it takes, plus the honest list of destinations you cannot reach without changing buses in central Palma.

How much is a taxi from Palma Airport?
Since May 2025 every taxi on Mallorca runs on the same published tariff, so the fare from the airport to your resort is something you can work out before you fly. We did the arithmetic for thirteen destinations, at the day rate and at the night and weekend rate, and put our own private transfer price next to each one so you can see exactly what you are choosing between.

Palma to Sóller by train: timetable, prices, tram and the alternatives
The wooden train from Palma to Sóller is a hundred-year-old excursion, not a transport link. It leaves from Plaça d'Espanya, not from the airport, it runs a handful of times a day and it costs 23€ one way. Here is the timetable, the tram to Port de Sóller, the bus that runs every half hour, and the honest answer to the question most people are really asking: how do I get there with three suitcases and a tired child?

How long does it really take from Palma airport?
Asking «how far is my hotel?» is the wrong question: in Mallorca the answer changes with the day and the hour. We measured 8 routes from the airport with the same Google API our pricing engine uses, in its three traffic models, and crossed the results with the island's official traffic counts: since 2018, every August Mallorca holds more cars than its own government considers acceptable.
