Is there Uber in Mallorca?
Yes, since 8 June 2023, and almost every honest answer comes with an asterisk. Uber launched in Palma through Moove Cars, a VTC operator, with a fleet of around 50 vehicles covering Palma, Calvià, Andratx and Llucmajor. That is the fact. What travellers actually experience is the asterisk: of the 63 answers and first-person experiences we coded in seven years of Reddit threads, 20 describe Uber as limited (only Palma and the south-west, few cars, none at dawn) and 25 as working but pricier than a taxi. Only 10 say it simply works, and 8 say there is none at all, most of them from before the launch.
The myth outlives the facts, too: of the 30 people asking the question, 13 already assumed there was no Uber or that it was banned, and those assumptions keep appearing in 2025 and 2026. Whole threads still open with “I heard there is no Uber on the island”.
What Reddit actually answered, year by year
Every coded answer about Uber in Mallorca, 2021 to 2026. Before June 2023 the answer was "there is none". Since then it is "yes, but": the percentage on each row is the share of "limited" plus "pricier".

Does Uber work at Palma airport?
At the airport, yes, and better than anywhere else on the island. Since April 2026 Uber has 20 assigned parking spaces in the arrivals area, won in an Aena tender, sitting right next to the taxi rank. The app offers UberX, Van and Van XL from the terminal, and Uber Reserve takes bookings up to 90 days ahead. Two things the app will not give you: an Uber Taxi product (Uber’s own PMI page says you cannot request a taxi through the app here) and a flat airport rate, so the price is set trip by trip and rises with summer demand.
The practical catch is the hours. Several coded reports say the same thing: when a flight lands at 2 in the morning there are taxis at the rank, because the rank is staffed whenever flights land, but Uber drivers are scarce. One user put it plainly: “Uber is not guaranteed at that time of the morning as there aren’t many drivers”. We have been meeting flights here since 2017, and that is the split we watch from the arrivals area: the rank keeps moving while the app screens stay empty. Cruise passengers hit another limit: Ubers cannot drop off at the dock itself, so riders reported being left a 20-minute walk from the ship. How much does Uber cost in Mallorca?
More than the metered taxi, in almost every report we coded. Uber’s own estimates from the airport start reasonably (24€ to Palma centre), but climb fast with distance: 52€ to Calvià, 65€ to Sóller, 108€ to Santanyí. Users also report a minimum charge of around 30€, which makes short hops pointless. Against that, every taxi on the island runs on one published tariff: 2.50€ flag drop, 1.20€ per kilometre and a 4.65€ airport supplement by day, a little more at night and on weekends. We operate alongside that tariff every working day, so it is not an abstraction to us, it is the yardstick our own customers use when they price the alternatives.
The Reddit price reports are blunter than the estimates. Airport to Magaluf on Uber: 77-103€ in the launch summer, when the taxi ran about 45€. A 20-minute UberX in August 2026: 70-100€. One rider paid 100€ for a 20-minute trip because the driver never ended the journey, and got no refund. The pattern across all 25 price reports: Uber lands at 1.5 to 2 times the taxi fare for the same run.

Is there Bolt or Cabify in Mallorca?
No. Neither operates on the island as of August 2026. This is the clearest number in the whole corpus: Bolt is mentioned 13 times in the Mallorca threads, and every single mention is either a traveller asking (“is Uber or Bolt available?”) or an answer saying it is not here. Zero completed rides. Cabify is mentioned exactly zero times. The local press explains why the question keeps coming up: Bolt contacted the Balearic transport federation in December 2025 to explore the market, and a licence partner of Cabify has requested temporary VTC slots. Exploring is not operating, and travellers who land expecting the Spanish mainland’s app landscape (both work well in Madrid and Barcelona) find a different island.
What do travellers actually use to get around?
The boring answer wins: taxis are mentioned 355 times, Uber 145. The corpus is a ranking of what people really do after the Uber question is settled: the bus network (TIB and the airport lines) comes second at 197 mentions, rental cars third at 106, and pre-booked transfers at 90.

When Reddit recommends an app, it is rarely Uber (our guide to the taxi apps that actually work sorts them all out). Mallorcab leads with 6 recommendations (“like their version of Uber, and you can book airport rides in advance”), the Radio Taxi Palma phone numbers collect 5, and TaxiClick and ntaxi appear twice each. Behind them sits a rule most visitors learn the hard way: a taxi may only pick up passengers in the municipality that licensed it, so the Palma driver who dropped you in Cala d’Or cannot legally come back for you. Each town has its own companies, which is why “ask your hotel to call one” is the single most repeated advice in the corpus.
Why are there so few Ubers here?
Because the fleet is capped by licences, and the licences are in court. Mallorca has about 360 VTC vehicles (the licence type Uber drivers use) against roughly 1,990 taxi licences, 1,530 of which now share one joint service across Palma and seven neighbouring municipalities. Palma adds another 210 seasonal taxi licences every summer. The 600 extra VTC licences that Moove Cars requested were denied by the previous government; a court ordered them re-examined, and the current government is appealing that ruling. Meanwhile Uber prepares its own workaround: press reports describe plans for around 100 vans of 10 to 12 seats. However that ends, the arithmetic today is one VTC for every five and a half taxis, and it shows in every “no drivers available” screenshot.
What does this mean for your arrival?
Three practical readings from the data. Since 2021 we have transferred more than 4,000 customers out of this terminal, 98.6% of them picked up on time, and all three readings match what those arrivals look like from the driver’s side. One: for a short daytime hop into Palma, the taxi rank is the cheapest door-to-door option and it never runs out; that is not our opinion, it is 355 mentions against 145. Two: the moments when you would most want an app (a 1 a.m. landing, a group of six, a hotel in the north or east) are exactly the moments the corpus says Uber is scarce, surging or absent. Three: if certainty is what you are buying, buy it before you fly: a pre-booked transfer fixes the price when you book it, tracks your flight and puts the driver inside the terminal. Ours run from 07:00 to 22:00, from 68€ to Palma, from 91€ to Magaluf and from 153€ to Alcúdia, always for the whole car; for a genuine small-hours landing, the rank is the honest answer. One figure to remember: 13 of the 30 people asking Reddit about Uber in Mallorca assumed it did not exist or was banned. The most expensive mistake is not picking the wrong app: it is landing at 2 a.m. with no plan at all because you believed a 2022 answer.

Methodology
We ran 13 Reddit searches around “uber mallorca” (including the related searches Google suggests, such as “taxi and Uber options in Mallorca”) on 19 August 2026, downloaded 480 complete threads with their comment trees, and filtered them to the 161 threads genuinely about Mallorca: 1,293 texts from 2013 to 2026, with the analysis window starting in 2021. Every statement about Uber (93 of them) was read and coded by hand into asker assumptions and four answer categories: “there is none”, “limited”, “pricier than a taxi” and “works”. Prices quoted by users are exactly that, user reports we could not verify; official figures come from Uber’s PMI page, the Balearic reference taxi tariff and the licence counts in the local press. Reddit skews English-speaking and app-minded, so if anything it overstates Uber’s role. You are welcome to reuse this data citing the source and this analysis.

No. As of August 2026 neither operates on the island. In our corpus Bolt appears 13 times, always as a question or a "not here" answer, never as a completed ride, and Cabify appears zero times. Local press reports both companies exploring the Balearic market, but nothing has launched.
What taxi apps do people actually use in Mallorca?
The apps travellers recommend on Reddit are Mallorcab (6 recommendations, works island-wide and takes advance airport bookings), TaxiClick and ntaxi for Palma taxis, plus the phone numbers of Radio Taxi Palma. One rule explains a lot: a taxi may only pick you up in the municipality that issued its licence, so each town has its own companies and your hotel is often the fastest way to call one.
Can I book an Uber in advance in Mallorca?
Yes, Uber Reserve accepts bookings up to 90 days ahead, including from the airport. Which taxi apps actually work in Mallorca?
Land in Mallorca expecting one big ride-hailing app and you will spend your first evening confused. The island runs on municipal taxi licences, so the apps are local too: one for the whole island, two for Palma, a WhatsApp number and a lot of phone calls. We sorted them out, and checked which ones the 1,293 Reddit texts from our Uber study actually recommend.
